Passing Through
Broken Hills
December 7, 2023Washington DC indie rockers Broken Hills are gearing up to release their sophomore LP titled "Passing Through" which serves as a love letter to the best parts of melodic guitar-centric 90s indie/alt rock, noise-pop, pop-punk, and emo. The album comes 8 years after their self titled debut LP, which only hinted at what the band would be capable of. The new LP features 10 brand new songs of hook-laden, guitar driven, indie punk anthems, pulling from all of the band's favorite influences, bands like The Replacements, Superchunk, Dinosaur Jr, Archers of Loaf, Jawbreaker, Sugar, Superdrag, Guided by Voices, and The Wipers, to name more than a few. The first single "Waiting" from the forthcoming LP can be streamed below, and is a strong indication of what to expect from the forthcoming LP. Fuzzed up layers of jangly and distorted guitars, big melodic toe tapping verses and a catchy sing-along chorus to go along with it. Not only does this band fit in with their previously named influences from the 90s, but they also fit right in with bands like Cloud Nothings, Japandroids, Beach Slang, New Junk City and the like.
