Charmer announce long awaited 3rd LP "Downpour" and drop lead single "Arrowhead"
Michigan emo band Charmer have just announced, "Downpour," their long awaited 3rd LP set for release on May 23, 2025 via Counter Intuitive Records. Blending influences from the late 90s and early 2000s Long Island emo-punk scene, to the melancholic vibes of The Cranberries and The Cure, with the midwestern emo revival punk sound that laid the original foundation for their sound, "Downpour" contains 11 new tracks, including the previously released "Rose Thorns". Lead ead single "Arrowhead" streaming below, captures the band's intense, cathartic and anthemic sound, drawing parallels to early Alkaline Trio, Title Fight, and Bayside. Hailing from Marquette, Michigan, Charmer's music reflects their surroundings and emotional depth, offering a mix of familiar tones and fresh perspectives for listeners. Michigan emo band Charmer's third album, Downpour, their first in five years, arrives May 23, 2025 on Counter Intuitive Records, blending the melodic intensity of the late 90s Long Island punk scene with the dreamy, melancholic vibes of The Cranberries and The Cure, combined with their midwestern emo revival punk sound that laid the original foundation for their sound. Throughout the album, vocalist/guitarist David Daignault reflects on life in the isolated UP, a bittersweet pursuit of creativity, and healing from trauma in the wake of new parenthood. Downpour offers longtime Charmer fans a familiar sound while opening the door to an entirely new audience. Joined by guitarist Neil Berg, bassist Zack Alworden, and drummer Nick Erickson, Daignault’s soul-stirring vocal performance leads the band across a record that combines passion and precision. Across its eleven tracks, Downpour captures both the intensity of their past and the bittersweet blank page ahead.
The band has also released the lead off single "Arrowhead" taken from the forthcoming LP. Charmer pulls no punches with their new song, “Arrowhead.” It's a powerful track with the kind of immediate catharsis that only comes from wrestling your own demons. Drawing influence from the driving, anthemic vibes of early Alkaline Trio, Bayside, and Title Fight "Arrowhead" is a bold re-introduction to a band that refuses to be boxed in.
Formed in 2015, Charmer hails from a town defined by its beauty and isolation. Marquette, Michigan is both their muse and final boss, where their knack for melancholy feels especially potent against the frigid shores of Lake Superior. Their environment is foundational to their sound, too––without the distractions of a big city scene in their way, Charmer creates as their only way of finding connection and meaning in a place that feels like the edge of the world.'
