Chicago emo rockers New Age Thief will unleash their debut album Stars Align via Wax Bodega on October 25, 2024.The record draws from the duo’s shared influences—think Jimmy Eat World and Basement—while adding heavier, atmospheric flourishes reminiscent of Microwave and Balance and Composure. Savarino’s intricate guitar work and Corcoran’s explosive drumming strike a balance between raw and refined, offering a fresh take on the emo-rock canon. This is a band rewriting the rulebook—unapologetic, emotionally charged, and undeniably exciting. Their new single "Bleeding Out," is a prime example; it's also the first song Savarino wrote for their project. "I like it a lot but also hate it for that reason," Savarino admits. While most of Stars Align embraces themes of gratitude and hope, "Bleeding Out" digs into the ugliness of human nature. It’s biting and aggressive, offering a sharper edge compared to the rest of the album. The LP follows their previous EP, continuing along the lines of the early 2000s alternative rock and anthemic emo punk sound, that’s all at once classic but updated for modern times. Check out the driving and melodic new emo punk anthem "Bleeding Out" below, from the forthcoming LP, for fans of Basement, Arm's Length, Armor For Sleep, Balance and Composure, Origami Angel, Microwave and the like.
