Years

15 Passenger Records (Cursive's label) is excited to announce the surprise release of fellow native Omaha, Nebraska band Criteria's 3rd LP and 1st album in almost 15 years, titled "Years", set to drop on January 17, 2020. The album was produced, recorded, and mixed by Criteria’s own A.J. Mogis (Cursive, Monsters of Folk, and more). The album has apparently been in the works for quite some time (hence the title 'Years') and picks up in sound, right where the band left off...loud, heavy, groove laiden, guitar driven indie rock/post hardcore/alt-pop anthems.

Criteria will be hitting the road the entire month of January 2020 to support Cursive and Cloud Nothings out West. You won't want to miss that one!

Reviews of Years on Release Wave

Been waiting Years for new Criteria

What a pleasant surprise! I absolutely loved Criteria's first 2 LPs. Their sound hit that sweet spot between post hardcore with a groove, indie rock, and alternative rock/pop with huge sounding guitars, loads of distortion, and big anthemic hooks! To find out a new album is coming after waiting 15 years was pretty exciting news. There's a new single titled "Agitate Resuscitate" streaming on Brooklyn Vegan that I highly recommend checking out. Not too many bands are doing it like this these days, with no frills, no electronics, no computerizeed sounding nonsense or crazy auto-tune. This is just back to the basics, straight up loud guitar driven rock and roll, with a monster groove/guitar riff, punchy verse, stop start dynamics, and an anthemic chorus. The single sounds like it could have been all over the radio in the mid-90s or something that would have been played on 120 minutes (if anyone remembers that show with Matt Pinfield)! I miss this sound and can't wait to hear the rest of this LP! Glad these dudes are back!
