Heart to Gold

Formed in 2017, Minneapolis, Minnesota indie/punk band Heart to Gold strike a chord with their swaggering, scrappy Midwest punk that prioritizes the strength of the collective over the individual. There are obvious influences from bands like The Weakerthans, American Football, Weezer, Husker Du, and more, but Heart to Gold is really doing their own thing with it and that's in part due to Grant Whiteoak, lead singer and guitarist. Both on a songwriting and a vocal delivery level, his voice and his lyrics can often times feel like two distinct instruments––and part of the band's magic is in how they're able to masterfully weave it all together. The band is singed to Will Yip's Memory Music and will release their a new LP in November 2024.

Heart To Gold "Get It Back" on latest single from forthcoming LP

"Get It Back," the latest song to be previewed from Minnesota trio Heart to Gold's upcoming LP, Free Help, is a cathartic, pedal-to-the-metal banger that feels like the tension is about to burst the whole way through. It's an attempt by vocalist/guitarist Grant Whiteoak to immortalize the struggle of asking for help in a world that pushes you to keep your negative emotions inside. Like other recent singles released, including "TNT" and "Can't Feel Me," this song is cathartic AF––and represents a push beyond Heart to Gold’s long-time community, and a broadening of the boundaries of the project. HEART TO GOLD NAVIGATE LIFE’S UPS AND DOWNS WITH GRIPPING NEW TRACK "MOSTLY"

Heart To Gold just dropped the video for its latest single "Mostly" taken from their forthcoming LP "Free Help" set for release on November 15, 2024. Brought to life by Grammy-nominated producer Will Yip (Title Fight, Turnstile) and released on his label, Memory Music, Free Help amplifies the band's scrappy roots into something bigger—both sonically and thematically. It serves as a rallying cry for connection, and the new song out today, “Mostly,” serves as one of its most emotionally resonant offerings. "Mostly" is a raw reflection on the experience of drifting away from people as time passes, grounded in vocalist/guitarist Grant Whiteoak’s candid lyrics about youth, identity, and missteps along the way. “At the time, I was stuck trying to subconsciously figure myself out. I didn’t know I was living in ways that didn’t align with who I truly wanted to be," he says. "Mostly is about finally realizing who I was while losing connections with people I tried to impress. Stream "Mostly" below along with previously released singles "Get it Back" and "TNT" for a taste of what's to come.
