Origami Angel drop 2 new singles from forthcoming LP

Ahead of the release of their highly-anticipated Will Yiip produced third LP, "Feeling Not Found", out on September 27, DC emo duo Origami Angel drop two new songs: "Sixth Cents (Get It?)" and "secondgradefoofight." The pair of blistering tracks arrive with another double music video, directed by Britain Weyant, that finds vocalist/guitarist Ryland Heagy and drummer Patrick Doherty attempting their own fever dream version of their favorite videos from Green Day, Phoebe Bridgers, Modern Baseball, Taking Back Sunday, Smashing Pumpkins, and Foo Fighters. The mashup of influences in the video captures the sounds and scenes that have inspired Heagy and Doherty over the years. It's the reason why Feeling Not Found is as instantly impactful as it is –– there's so much more than just emo and easycore going on here.

"Sixth Cents (Get It?)" uses angsty hardcore to cut through with sharp and necessary commentary on the music industry. "When you love your job so much that you would do it for free, you can get taken advantage of by corporate greed," Ryland says. "The music industry can be a winding roller coaster, spinning you in directions you can’t predict. The wholesome, artistic nature of your work is constantly in a tug-of-war with the necessity to produce profit for yourself and others. Many artists have the bulk of their income taken away by predatory labels. This song comes from a place of frustration, and is almost laughing at the industry speak that comes from the powers that be."

"secondgradefoofight" begins with an angelic 30-second intro before speeding off into a brain-splitting climax. Lyrically, Heagy expresses deep frustration with mental and emotional overload, and a desire to escape the constant noise of life, both internally and digitally. It's a battle for autonomy and self-preservation, rejecting chaos in favor of solitude and control.

Origami Angel has announced the release of their new LP "Feeling Not Found" set for release on September 27, 2024. If you've got it, flaunt it––and all over the upcoming 14-track full length from Washington, D.C. duo Origami Angel, that's exactly what vocalist/guitarist Ryland Heagy and drummer Pat Doherty do. Simply put, their new album, Feeling Not Found, is the future of emo. Recorded with Grammy-nominated producer Will Yip (Turnstile, Title Fight, The Wonder Years) at Studio 4, Feeling Not Found revolves around the deeply modern experience teased in the title: an emotional and spiritual 404 error, a sensation of cellular-level malfunction and data corruption, of being lost in an oblivion of digital information, and the desperate struggle to reconnect to how it feels to be human and whole. Two songs from Feeling Not Found are now streaming. "Dirty Mirror Selfie" may quickly rise in the ranks of the Origami Angel discography, with its furious pogo-ready riff plunging into a power-pop declaration of intent. “Where Blue Light Blooms,” a stunning, operatic track, finds Heagy and Doherty giving a workshop in outside-the-box songwriting and includes one of the most thrilling bridges you’ll hear on a rock song this year. Gami Gang fans are going to love what's in store, so be sure to check out the latest singles below and be on the look out for the band's unique take on emo, moshable and dance-worthy pop punk with the occasional hints of electronic and screamo.
